What's in a Name?

Eliza has been at school for just  over three weeks.  After about a week, she started telling me about her speech teacher.  First, she met her speech teacher.  Then she had a one-on-one class with her speech teacher.  Then, she had another one.  She loved it!  They read stories!  They had fun!

I assumed Eliza was referring to a speech therapist and thought it was odd that her teacher hadn't contacted me about Eliza being taken out of class to meet with a specialist.  I also thought it was odd that Eliza was receiving any kind of speech intervention.  She speaks well.  A lot.

I decided to email the teacher to try to find out more about what was going on.  Imagine my surprise when I received a reply from Eliza's teacher telling me that Eliza had been going to speech my mistake.  The speech teacher was supposed to be working with a girl named Elisa.

Oops.

I'm just really glad Elisa wasn't supposed to be receiving electroshock therapy.  Because, you know, a lot of elementary schools provide that.

P.S. Ever the model of a well-behaved student, Eliza was chosen as her class's Noble Knight Leader of the Week during the first full week of school and recognized at the first weekly Morning Meeting.
