Just a few things that have been going on at school -
Cat
Cat was SO excited about being "Scholar of the Week" and began working on her poster right away. |
She points out in three different places how much she likes to read. :-)
Ready to take it to school. |
Cat is required to read for 20 minutes a day as part of her homework.
Here, she is reading James Herriot's Treasury for Children, which was mine as a child. She loves it, which makes my heart happy. |
Sweet note from Cat's first math teacher.
Is it unusual for a parent to actually check her child's homework? |
This is my view when I pick Cat up in the carpool line after school. |
Cat asked if she could practice her spelling words in sidewalk chalk one day.
She had to use different colors for the consonants and vowels. |
Cat stayed after school for an extra 30 minutes one afternoon a week for Choir.
Here she is during her Christmas performance, where the choir sang "Rudolph," "Zum Gali Gali,"
and "Have You Ever Been Down a Water Spout?" |
This doesn't have to do with school, exactly, but at the beginning of the year, Cat received a letter from Mema telling her about a science experiment. Here, she's writing a letter back to Mema to tell her what happened.
Can you guess the experiment? |
Jack
Jack, about to write his name, as they do every day when they arrive at school. |
With one of the student teachers during reading time. |
Jack and Eliza, getting up close and personal with the coolest Show & Tell item ever. |
I'm pretty sure this was Jack's first Show & Tell, but I'm not completely positive. :-(
He was STOKED about this, just as he has been about every Show & Tell.
He asks us just about every day if he has school, and then if it's his Show & Tell day.
Pictured is a monster truck that has an interesting story. The MBA Spouse Association
does this huge clothing/toys/goods exchange four times during the school year, and we receive
donations from a consignment store to be used during the exchange. I was sorting through donations
and Jack fell in love with several cars. I let him choose one to keep, but he was really sad to give this
yellow one up. He was still upset after several days, so I told him that I would look for it at the upcoming
exchange, but I wasn't sure I would find it. Well, whattaya know, I found the exact truck.
What are the chances? And Jack has loved it ever since. |
Jack, patiently waiting his turn to do Show & Tell on another day, with Eliza at his side. |
Telling everyone about his Thomas Alphabet Practice book. |
Eliza
No, Eliza's not in school, but she might as well be with how much she enjoys being in Jack's classroom.
She has been known to cry when we have to leave... |
Look - a tarantula. |
Greeting the class Goldfish - Big Jerry and Little Jerry.
Can you guess which is which? |
Big Jerry and Little Jerry might be the cutest pet names EVER!
