Halloween, Part 1

Our family pre-Halloween festivities:

Costume Parade at the Ward Halloween Party
(There were other activities too, but I only took pictures of the Costume Parade.)

Corn Maze
(Ben always says, "Isn't that redundant??")

We didn't go until the weekend before Halloween, but they had a couple of cool deals going on.  The kids got in at a discounted rate for wearing their costumes (even if the girls ditched theirs once we got inside) AND they were giving away a free medium-sized pumpkin to each person.  Not bad!

Shout out to my family in North & South Scarolina :-)

At the end of the maze there were tons of fun things for the kids to do.
Jack, dressed as a Jack-o-Lantern, enjoyed standing in this giant Jack-o-Lantern.

"Pumpkin Mountain" had a twirly tunnel slide inside.

Carving Jack-o-Lanterns
We gave away several of the pumpkins we received at the Corn Maze (isn't that redundant??) and were left with three carve-worthy pumpkins.  We chose to only carve two, though, to preserve sanity and to preserve a pumpkin for dinner on Halloween.  You'll have to wait for Part 2 to get the scoop on that.
Jack enjoyed drawing on the third pumpkin.

Looks like a scary monster!

Cat, who chose to wear a cat costume, also wanted a cat Jack-o-Lantern.
And, no, I don't know why Eliza was crying...

Ewwww!  Pumpkin guts!
OR
mmmm...... pumpkin seeds.......

Cat loved getting to help with the carving of her cat.

Jack was thrilled with the way his ghost turned out.
Spooky!

Our fully Halloweened front door.

Gardner Village
We heard from many people that we must go to Gardner Village in October
to see all of the witches.  They have tons of witches out, most of them
larger-than-adult-human-sized, and they're doing all kinds of things.
If you pick up a scavenger hunt sheet and fill it out, "Find the dancing witch"
(who was on a turn table and dancing around), then you got a free cookie.

The day before Halloween (!!), we met my cousin, her two boys,
and my aunt there, and we all had a fun time finding the witches.
I forgot my camera, so the only picture I have is the one my cousin took.
My kids with their (third?) cousin, Wes at Gardner Village.
