Jack's Soccer Season

(originally published February 23rd, 2016)

Jack played soccer one year with the little league that the MBA spouses organized while Ben was at BYU.  Jack was 4 at the time and when I blogged about it (full post here) I shared my favorite memory of the season:

The highlight of Jack's soccer season for me had to be when Jack broke away from the pack and started dribbling the ball toward the sideline... and didn't stop.  He ran through two more soccer fields before the coaches convinced him that he needed to turn around.  Of course, all of the kids on both of the teams had followed him through the other fields, so it took a while to get all 10 kids herded back to our field.  It was truly awesome.

Jack had a great time with soccer again this year, and though there were no repeats of that lovely, innocent 4-year-old experience, there were one or two of these:

Other than that, though, Jack was an enthusiastic player.  He loved being on the field and playing the game.

Sometimes the scheduling was tricky with Cat and Jack both playing soccer.  There were days when their games would be back to back at the same complex, and there were days when they were both playing at the same time in different cities.  But we did our best and had a good time watching Jack as much as we could.

The rec league here has both a fall and a spring season, so there will be more soccer fun before long.  Woohoo!
