Spring Break Day 1

I'm still behind on several things, but I wanted to share a quick run-down of our first day of Spring Break.  It was just about as perfect as it could have been.  I've been worn out from all of the things we have to do and places we have to be, so I wanted to have a mostly low-key Spring Break.  My two priorities today were to sleep in ("do not wake me up until after 8:00" were the instructions I gave my early-rising children) and to binge-watch "Little House on the Prairie."  Mission accomplished on both counts!

Jack and Eliza came into my room at exactly 8:03 (so technically I got extra sleep) and it was glorious to sleep that late.  After breakfast I practiced piano with Jack and Eliza, then invited them to join me while I did a workout video.  While I took a shower, Cat wanted in on the workout video fun, so Jack did a second workout with Cat.

Then while Luke took his nap. the older kids and I started watching "Little House on the Prairie," since I've been reading the books with J and E.  We LOVE it!  I never watched the show growing up so I wondered how I would feel about it, but boy is it great.  Cat and I (and I think Jack) were all moved to tears at least once.  For me, I think it was at least once per episode, and I'm not a crying person.  (We watched 4 full episodes, which took about 3 hours.  It was only the first of 6 DVDs that make up Season 1 and they're due back at the library on Friday so I'm afraid we might not finish in time, but we'll enjoy it while we can.)  I folded laundry, worked on Luke's Easter basket, and got some things ready for dinner while we watched.  But it was still very relaxing.

Then tonight we had an impromptu dinner night with cousins which was special for two reasons: we found out that their new baby will be a BOY, and we wanted to have some extra time with them because they are about to move away very soon (sad for us but exciting for them).

Hooray for Spring Break!
