Luke is just so much fun to have around. He's generally very happy: he's quick to smile and does his cute little grunting baby laugh all the time. He's social, playful, and loves to explore. He only rarely crawls at this point, and I'm sure it won't be long before he no longer resembles a drunken sailor when he walks. I'll miss that.
About the time Luke decided to be a Walker, he got into the habit of holding on to my or Ben's legs when he wants to be a part of what we're doing. Usually this is in the kitchen, and it's simultaneously so cute and quite frustrating. It's hard to move when a 24-pound person is hanging on to your legs for dear life. So we either waddle to where we need to go in the kitchen, or we give in and pick him up.
Once he gets picked up, he can be further pacified with a Little Smackeral of something. In this case, a berry did the trick.
One of Luke's favorite things to do now is to scatter things. You can always tell when Luke's been entertaining himself...
The nice thing is that he sometimes puts things away, too. For example, today during dinner we gave him too many green beans and he kindly put all of the extras in a cup on the table.
The very newest development, though, is a bit harrowing. Luke is opening doors. He learned how to use our lever doorknobs this week, so... nothing in the house is safe. On a positive note, I can practice my Weather Channel reporting skills, giving updates on the 5s on the path Hurricane Luke is tearing through the house.
Love it!
