Daddy-Ventures

Last week was pretty crazy.  Cat and I were gone to DC for four days, then we got back late Thursday night and Ben and everyone picked us up at the airport.  I turned right around and left at 8:00 the next morning to go to Girls' Camp with the Young Women in our area.  You see, I currently serve as Ward Camp Director, but felt that it was more important to be at the funeral with my family than go to camp the whole week.  It happened to work out that I was able to still go to the last 22 hours of camp, so I did, even though it made the week more complicated interesting.  I'm so glad I went to camp, and that Ben and the kids were so understanding and supportive.  It was great to be there to spend time with the YW, to support all of the other leaders, and to see a bear get caught 25 yards from my cabin.  :-)

Anyway, the point of this post is to point out how great Ben was at being Mr. Mom while I was gone.  He not only took care of the kids, he cooked from scratch, did laundry, cleaned the house, and took the kids on adventures.  I don't even feel much like taking the kids on adventures these days, so ask me how awesome my husband is.  Go ahead.

The biggest adventure of the week was probably when Ben took the kids to Salt Lake by riding on the double-decker commuter train, then transferring to the cable car so they could explore the main library.  Riding on the train and a cool library?!?  Boy, did they have a great time!

Another adventure was on Friday while I was at camp.  He found out that it was Cow Appreciation Day at Chick-fil-A, so he and Cat got everyone suited up so they could earn themselves some free dinner.  I love it!  And as if that wasn't enough, they doubled up on the freebies by getting free Slurpees at 7-11.  (Meanwhile I was eating taco salad at camp.... hmmmm.....)  Go Ben!!
