Grammy Comes to Town

My Mom was in town for TEN WHOLE DAYS in January and I was on Cloud Nine.  What a blessingt to have so much time together!  My grandparents, Oma and Opa, also came to our house for some of that time and we had such a great time.  Between the weather and the school and nap schedules of the kids and our guests' various constraints, we didn't do a whole lot, but that was just fine.  I loved seeing my children read books, do puzzles, watch movies, and just talk with my Mom and grandparents.  It really was a treat.

A welcome sign for Grammy.

Ben was gone when we were getting it ready, and I was determined to get it on the wall above the
stairs so that it was visible from the front door, but my method just wasn't working.  When Ben
got home, he simply leaned over the banister in the living room and stuck it right to the wall, haha.

(okay, okay, enough about the sign)

One of the first orders of business was to see FROZEN.
Guess what?  We loved it.  It's hard to tell, but Eliza is wearing
the Anna dress that Mema and Papa gave her for Christmas.  :-)

Grammy Love!

We hosted a cousin dinner for all of our extended family in the area
one evening while everyone was in town.  We love a big noisy family gathering!

Our last evening together, we went to the "Sacred Gifts" exhibit at the BYU Museum of Art.  It featured works by Carl Bloch, Heinrich Hofmann, and Frans Schwartz and it was just wonderful.  Mom had actually sent Ben and me out on a date one evening earlier in her visit and we'd gone to the exhibit and walked through it at a comfortable pace.  We were eager to take Mom and the kids, and it worked out well that we'd already been, so we knew what to point out to the kids and how to help them get the most out of it.  We all really enjoyed it.

I didn't take as many pictures as I should have, and these few really don't do the visit justice.  So what can I say to make up for that?  This visit was a much-needed dose of family that buoyed me for a significantly longer period than it actually lasted, and the rest of my family felt the benefit as well, I promise.  Mom, thank you for coming.  You are a Sacred Gift to me and I love you.
