Christmas Cookies

(For anyone who's picked up on my theme of Christmas songs as titles for my December posts, I will tell you that there is actually a song titled "Christmas Cookies." You'll have to check it out on YouTube.  It's not a timeless classic, but it is a song, and it was written and recorded by a very famous musician.)

We had a few installments of cookie decorating leading up to Christmas.  First was courtesy of our friends who came over for dinner, and offered to bring sugar cookies to decorate for dessert.  Perfect!  It's always fun for me to see the ridiculous amount of frosting kids put on their cookies, and this did not disappoint.

Someone gave us a cool gingerbread house kit before Christmas and we had a great time putting it together for FHE one night.  I insisted on keeping it out for a few days before letting the kids eat it, and it was so fun to see such a cute gingerbread house in the kitchen, though it became noticeably less decorated day by day.  Curious.  When I finally gave in and let them eat the house, they enjoyed the candy (what was left of it) much more than the gingerbread itself.  Of course, the demolition was quite fun too.

We had fun decorating gingerbread man cookies, just like we do every year.  With FSU's football team doing so well, and as we were leading up to the Florida-Florida State game, I couldn't help but make a couple of little football player gingerbread men.
