Down South

My Dad wanted to see one of the nearby National Parks while he was in Utah, and he also wanted to visit my grandparents in St. George.  So we chose to drive down south on Friday and spend the afternoon at Zion.  Of course one afternoon isn't nearly enough to see the whole park, but we enjoyed the sights on the scenic shuttle ride and strolled along the Virgin River as long as we could.  I did take the time to work on Junior Ranger requirements with the kids because Cat really wants to earn some more badges, but I wish I hadn't done that because by the time they were finished with their booklets and ready to get their badges, all of the Rangers had left for the day.  Major fail.  We should have been spending that time enjoying the park.

Me: Jack, what kind of rock is this?
Jack: Asteroid.

NOTE: This photo was not posed.

We left Zion in the evening and drove to St. George to meet up with Oma and Opa.  It so happened that my uncle, who was very close to my Dad for many years, was also coming into town along with two of his sons.  It was a fun little party.  We had a great time eating dinner at O&O's favorite buffet, then hanging out at their house.
