The Logan Temple & Cleaning The Kitchen Sink

For Labor Day yesterday we decided to take a day trip to Logan.  We didn't have firm plans, but there were two things I was hoping we would do.  The first was to walk around the Logan Temple.  I've always thought it was a cool temple with its unique castle-like exterior and I just wanted to go see it.  The second thing was to go eat at a local diner called Angie's and order The Kitchen Sink, an enormous banana split dessert that earns you a bumper sticker if you eat it all.

We decided to go to the temple first.  It really was wonderful to see it in person, and of course I did my best to get a few good pictures.  The Bigs even wanted me to take individual pictures of them while we were there.  I hopped to it obliged.  Luke wasn't as enthusiastic about having his picture taken, so Ben gave him a little encouragement.

After walking around the temple for a little while and taking pictures, we had a picnic lunch at a park with a playground, then spent a few hours at Willow Park Zoo, which was a huge hit with the kids.  (More to come in tomorrow's post.)  There was a playground adjoining the zoo, so of course the kids wanted to play there as well, until we convinced them to leave the playground so we could get some ice cream.  They finally agreed.

We really debated between trying to earn our bumper sticker at Angie's or going to Aggie Ice Cream, which is supposed to be amazing.  We went for the bumper sticker.  I'm not sure we made the right decision.  The kids were helpful in trying to eat the two-full-bananas-and-almost-a-gallon-of-mediocre-soft-serve-ice-cream-plus-whipped-cream-and-three-toppings-and-nuts dessert, but really would have preferred getting their own little cones.  The ice cream wasn't great, and Ben and I both felt sick after making ourselves eat so much (Ben had 3 bowls!).  But I admit that holding the bumper sticker we worked together as a family to earn gave me a sense of pride in what we accomplished.  And an aversion to ice cream.

When I didn't feed Luke fast enough, he not only screamed,
he did his impression of a goat.  Very loudly.
"Maaaa!  MAAAAAAAA!"

I have wondered if Jack would ever get enough ice cream.
Now I know it's possible.

Victory is ours!
Now where's the Pepto Bismol?
