Cat and Jack both participated in yesterday's Morning Meeting at school. The 1st Grade all recited a poem for "Show What You Know." Jack was excited about this and I was impressed that he had the whole thing memorized the day before, without any prompting. I made a video but you can't see him in the video, so I'll just share the poem itself. It's pretty cute.
I Know All the Sounds That the Animals Make
by Jack Prelutsky
I know all the sounds that the animals make,
And make them all day from the moment I wake,
I roar like a mouse, and I purr like a moose,
I hoot like a duck and I moo like a goose.
I squeak like a cat and I quack like a frog,
I oink like a bear, and I honk like a hog.
I croak like a cow, and I bark like a bee.
No wonder the animals marvel at me!
Then Cat was recognized as a Noble Knight of the Week for her class. Go Cat! So far she has had a wonderful year, behavior-wise. The school uses a clip chart, where kids start in the middle of the chart at the beginning of the day and may "clip up" for good behavior, the top level being Amazing. They may also "clip down" for bad behavior. I'm pretty sure Cat has been on Amazing every day so far. She really is Amazing. It was fun to see her get recognized for working so hard to be a good student. (And in case you're wondering why she isn't wearing her uniform... it was a Dress Down Fundraiser day. And both kids paid $1 out of their money to dress down.)
Yahoo! Great job Cat! It takes courage and patience to be on such good behavior. We are so proud of you(as always).
ReplyDeleteJack, I'd just LOVE to hear you recite your poem. Maybe tonight you can do it for us over the computer?
