Club Volleyball 2023

(originally published 11/9/23)

Liza was so excited to be on a real club volleyball team last year! She played with the same club she'd been at last year (in 2022 she played their "academy" level) but this was much more of a commitment. There were two practices a week, 1-2 workouts a week, optional skills and scrimmage nights, and several 2-day tournaments over the course of 5 months. Liza loved it.

Coach Danielle had Liza playing libero at first, which is why she was often in a contrasting jersey. By the end of the season she played opposite/right side. Coach Danielle praised her for being so coachable, and throughout the season she learned a lot about volleyball and being a good team player.

Most of her tournaments were local, played on Friday and Saturday. Two of the tournaments included out-of-state travel - one to Las Vegas and one to Idaho. They also competed in a big tournament in SLC which took place over three days.

One of the best things (or possibly the very best thing) about the club season was
being on the same team as her bestie! (And we apprecitaed the help with carpooling.)

Liza told her coach at the beginning of the season that she wouldn't be playing on Sunday. She tried to talk us out of it, but we held firm. She brought it up with Liza a couple more times during the season and it turned into a bit of an issue. Liza wasn't happy that we took such a firm stance, and I think she got some push back from her team as well. I hope she'll ultimately agree that it was the right thing to do.
