More From Fall Break

Really, we had a pretty low-key Fall Break, which was great.  My main goal for Fall Break was to not rush out of the house early every morning, and to give my kids lots of time with friends.  We're so busy these days, and we don't have any friends close enough to just have impromptu play dates that all of my kids are kind of starved for hanging out time with their buddies.  Over the course of the break, my kids had 12 play dates between them, which they loved.

I "hosted" a play date for Jack and Eliza with some of their friends, taking the whole
group to a play ground and letting the kids play while I read.  Worked out great.

And I only felt a like a tiny bit of a failure when Eliza's friends (sisters)
reciprocated and had her over later in the weekend, and she came home
with mini apple pies she made at their house, and a pumpkin rock she painted.
But the playground is good too, right....?

I planned a pizza and movie night with the kids and we watched
"Honey, I Shrunk the Kids." The movie was much less exciting than I
remember it being the last time I saw it, oh, 25 years ago, but the kids
were really into it.  Of course, we had a friend join us.

Jack ended up with an impromptu play date with the brother
of Cat's quartet-mates at a nearby playground while the quartet
practiced at their piano teacher's house.

One morning Cat and Eliza shared a friend who is Cat's age but who
has five brothers and no sisters.  The girls all rode bikes together, then
Cat serenaded Eliza and their friend while the two of them did each other's hair.

We also did some of this during Fall Break.
After all, all things in moderation.

And the kids enjoyed some time together outside.
They loved having some fall leaves to play with,
and Jack has loved getting to throw the football around lately.
(Ben isn't in the picture, but he's the one playing with Jack.)

Eliza might have gotten a little carried away with the leaves.
Here she wanted me to make a video of her throwing the leaves.
I had no idea that she would be throwing them AT me.
