Halloweening

We had a ward Halloween party the Friday before Halloween, and Suz and I spent all afternoon on that day finishing up costumes and accessories.  While we were putting things together, Eliza took the opportunity to jam with her uncle.  And Suz took a few pictures before we left for the church.  There, we enjoyed chili, walked in a costume parade, and played games for candy at the different rooms in the church.  Cat and her friend even agreed to take care of one room by running an activity (freeze dance using Kids Bop Halloween music) and decorating the door.

On Halloween Day, I surprised the kids by putting up all of these fun Harry Potter printouts that a friend gave me.  Jack and Eliza were really disappointed that they couldn't find the invisibility cloaks.

I started the morning at Luke's Preschool program, and went straight to the big kids' school to watch their costume parade.  All three of our Gryffindor's looked great in the parade!  And from there I went to Eliza's classroom to help with their class party.

Then I checked Jack and Eliza out of school early, picked Luke up from school, fed the kids lunch at home then put Luke down for a nap.  Then we left to pick Cat up about an hour early from school and drove straight to Ben's office for their trick-or-treat party.  The kids had fun collecting more candy, but were willing to take the time to pose for pictures in front of a cool wall in Ben's building.

Then we drove to a nearby spot for family pictures before heading back home.  We dropped Cat off to go trick-or-treating with her friend, then we took our kids and Whit trick-or-treating in our neighborhood.  We hadn't gone to all of the houses before the boys were ready to be finished.  We went home and Luke happily started giving out candy to the trick-or-treaters who rang our doorbell, but Eliza went out with Ben so she could finish the rounds in our neighborhood.  Of course the kids dug into their candy as soon as they could, but it made me smile that Luke was also eager to sort the colors of popcorn in a goody bag our neighbor gave him.

I don't have any pictures of the actual trick-or-treating, but it happened, and it was only one of the many times during our Halloween celebrationing that the kids received candy.  And even though the girls easily had twice as much as the boys, and even though the kids ate a ton of candy on Halloween night, when I weighed their bags the following morning, they still had about 15 pounds of stuff (mostly candy, but also some little toys and a couple of drinks).  So.  Much.  Candy.

And that (finally) wraps up our Halloween Coverage!
