Fall Break Dinosaur Museum

We met up with friends at the Museum of Ancient Life at Thanksgiving Point, making use of a few more summer reading coupons the kids earned.  This was on the Monday of Fall Break, when Cat had already gone back to school, which was perfect, because she had no desire to participate in this activity.  The younger kids loved it.

The kids had a lot of fun in this hands-on science activity room, which is separate
from the rest of the ancient-life-themed museum.

A looooooooooongneck dinosaur.

These big magnetic dinosaur skeleton puzzles are actually pretty hard.
One of the kids asked me for helping figuring out which dinosaur one of the
pieces belonged to and I couldn't figure it out.

The kids like all of the interactive exhibits but this one is a favorite.

All of these kids weigh more than a Tanycolagreus,
but less than a Herrerasaurus.  Now we know.

We were excited to see a skeleton of the largest species of turtle,
Archelon ischyros.  It measured 16' from flipper-tip to flipper-tip.

Megalodon.  Always a highlight for Jack.

I think Eliza's highlight was getting to hold baby Omi.

The last exhibit before you exit is the mock-excavation site.
Another favorite.
