Fall Break Bowling

We'd planned to spend one afternoon of Fall Break doing a fun little hike, but shortly before we were to depart, the temperature suddenly dropped and the wind started blowing like crazy.  We considered taking the kite out but Ben thought it might even be too windy for the kite.  So we decided on a fun, novel, indoor activity, for which our kids still had coupons from thejir summer reading prizes.  Bowling for the win.

Luke mostly enjoyed getting to have a turn to roll his ball down the dragon thingy.

He also enjoyed tampering with the score-keeping aparatus.

And when he needed a break, he had no trouble finding a place to rest.

I took this picture right before he slid down the dragon thingy.
I love that these devices serve multiple purposes.

Jack did a little dance for us after he had a good turn.

Eliza was a little excited when she found out that she was the overall winner.
(In an attempt to save face, I will point out that she used bumpers but not everybody in the family did.)

This photo is courtesy of the mom of the family beside us, who saw me taking
pictures of Ben and the kids and took pity, as a fellow seldom-photographed mother.

If you feel inclined to watch the video below, you might notice Jack's patented bowling method: throwing the ball down the lane.  Sometimes it resulted in a pinball-effect, with the bowling ball bouncing from one bumper, across the lane to the other bumper, but other times it went mostly straight down.  It'll be interesting to see if Jack continues to use this strategy in the future.

  1. So Fun! I had to call Papa over right away to watch the video. It is almost as good as being there! Thank You!
