What are Those Cowboys Thinking??

We haven't been to a rodeo since our first summer in Utah and I'd been itching to see another one.  So we got tickets to see the Fiesta Days Rodeo in Spanish Fork on Pioneer Day, which is supposed to be one of the best rodeos around.  My niece came with us, too.  She was at BYU for the summer semester and it was fun to have her join us.  We were all excited, and got dolled up in our best Western gear to prove it.

We had fun watching the events, and I was proud of the fact that I'd attended enough rodeos that I finally understood what was going on and could explain the various events to the kids (for the most part).

I just snapped random pictures for fun.  I decided the best way to share them would be with inner monologue captions.

"I should have listened to Mom and become an English teacher."

"I think I'm gonna be sick."

"I only have to hold on for seven more seconds!"

"Down you go, baby cow!"

"Why did I let my Dad talk me into this?"

"I don't think I'm doing this right."

"And THAT, cowboys and cowgirls, is how it's done."
And as if we hadn't seen enough death-defying sport for one evening, the rodeo was followed up with a "Steel Rodeo" - motocross with very sketchy looking ramps.  I could hardly watch (let alone take pictures) for fear of witnessing a death.
