Conference!

We've been excited for General Conference.  I love that my kids are all old enough to remember the various traditions we've established, which I'm sure help them to look forward to this weekend of marathon preaching.  We always start with an FHE devoted to conference the Monday before the big weekend.  This time we did a couple of new things, though.  We've been reviewing talks from the Oct. 2014 General Conference for FHEs recently and putting short quotes on the wall.  We only started this a couple of months ago so we didn't get all of the apostles up on the wall, but we'll do better next time.

Anyway, in addition to watching The Apostles Song, and How General Authorities Eat Their Reese's, and playing our apostles matching game (during which Jack continued to choose the same Elder Andersen piece over and over and over again), we reviewed the quotes on the wall and Eliza helped me moderate a little competition between Cat and Jack to see if they could remember who said which quote (Ben was out of town).  It was a fun FHE.

And later in the week, my sister shared this fun video, which might become a new Conference-Prep FHE tradition as well.

Then today, Cat and I were able to attend the first session of conference.  It was great!  We had some parking issues which caused a significant delay but we enjoyed the experience anyway.  Two hours of being still and quiet was a challenge for Cat, but she did great.  And she told me that her favorite talk was Sis. Burton's, which I loved as well.

It was lovely to walk through Temple Square on our way back to the car and see all of the beautiful flowers in bloom.  And there were lots of people waiting to take pictures on the pedestal in front of the temple.  I glanced over there as we walked by and saw a couple taking pictures, and next thing we knew, the man was down on one knee holding out a ring box.  It was so cool to see a proposal, and everyone started clapping and cheering.  Another fun little memory on a good day.

We enjoyed the second session with Ben and everyone when we got home, and look forward to more tomorrow.  We are continuing to use Conference Bucks, to which our kids respond very well.

We're so thankful for the knowledge that Christ speaks to us through his living prophets, and that we can hear their words during this special event.  What a blessing!
