The Monster Project

Shortly before Fall Break started I came across some cute, simple monster softies on Pinterest.  I did some searching and found a few ideas and decided it would make a great project for The Bigs to work on the afternoons they were home while Luke was napping, all the better because I already had all of the materials we would need.

I pitched it to the kids Thursday afternoon and they were all pretty indifferent.  The girls even started doing their own thing in the playroom, so I just decided to get Jack started.  We looked at ideas online and he decided what he wanted to do.  We pulled out fleece and jersey scraps and got to work.  And pretty soon, the girls were upstairs with us, excited to design and make their own monsters.  It turned out to be fun for everyone - yeah! - and they've been playing with them ever since, making schools/houses/beds, taking them places with us, and sleeping with them.  Awesome.

Eliza's monster is Pinkerbelle, Cat's is Rellonda Rainbow (Rella for short)
and Jack's is Monsty-Tigey, or Four Eyes.

When the kids were choosing their fabrics and drawing the outlines for the pieces, I got started on a monster for Luke.  Of course I ended up so caught up in The Bigs' monsters that Luke's was pushed aside.  They were eager for me to finish his, though, so I managed to get it done this afternoon.  Jack named it Runtsy.
