A Field Trip and A Fu Manchu

Last week Jack's class went on a walking field trip last week to see the inner workings of a big store, then tour the police station.  Jack said his favorite part was the jail.  Granted, they weren't able to see the jail because someone was there that day, but he thought it was cool enough that he was near a jail cell that it topped his list.

Jack's teacher emailed this class picture from the field trip.

We happened to see Jack's class walking toward the police
station when I was headed to the library (in the same complex)
with Eliza and Luke.  We found them having lunch at a
nearby playground and stopped to say hello.

Last week, the kids also had Mustache Day at school.  I pulled out my felt at 8:00 the night before and asked the kids what type of mustaches they wanted.  Jack wanted a beard and Cat wanted a "Chinese" Mustache.  I attached thin elastic to the corners and the kids were set.

In honor of Mustache Day, Eliza formed a
Fu Manchu on her bed.  Do you see it?

Another class picture from Jack's teacher.
I'm including it because I love that Jack is the only kid with a beard.

  1. Oh, please tell Jack the family story that Ruth Catherine as a little girl attended school in a building that used to be a courthouse ( in New Mexico). In that courthouse was a jail and in the jail, Billy the Kid, a notorious outlaw, had at one time been a prisoner:) It doesn't seem nearly as sensational now as it did when I was little listening to her tell it. Let's see, that is his great great grandmother.
