Blackridge Reservoir

A couple of days after school got out, we headed up to Herriman to check out the Blackridge Reservoir.  It ended up being cool and rainy when we got there, but the kids were excited to play in the sand, so we decided to stay.  After a little while, the sun came out and we enjoyed a picnic lunch, with the kids eating in the upper level of this extra-tall playground by the beach.  It ended up being a fun way to spend the morning, and a great summer kick-off.

The kids were very busy with their sand creations.  I'm pretty sure that Jack and his
friend told me that their creation was called "Destruction Volcano."

Cat's description of the girls' creation (above) is more detailed.  She said that Turtle Island is in the middle.  The water around that is Footsteps Waters.  The river on Cat's side is Hallooloo River with the pond on that side being Atlantis (which has a lost castle).  Eliza's waterfall is Tooth Falls, which flows into The Tooth River.  The little pond on the right is Squirrel Pond because it looks like a squirrel.
