TBT - When I Was Baptized

With Jack's baptism coming up I thought it would be fitting to share some memories from my baptism.  In other words, this will be a short post.

I was baptized in the evening, a few days after my 8th birthday, by my Uncle Jamie.  I was confirmed a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints by my grandfather.  I remember that along with my Mom helping me get dressed in the bathroom after the baptism, my good friend, and Primary teacher Janean was there too.  Janean also gave one of the talks.  Afterward, we all went to a restaurant called Friendly's and had ice cream.  As gifts for the occasion, my parents gave me a nice, new Bible and my grandparents gave me a triple combination (Book of Mormon + Doctrine & Covenants + Pearl of Great Price).

Even more important than the logistics of the event are the feelings I had at the time.  I remember being really excited to finally get to take this step, and having no doubts in my mind that being a member of the LDS Church was what I wanted to do.  I marveled at the concept of being clean and thought that maybe I just might be able to stay clean forever.  It all simply felt right.  And it still does.
