The Fountain

Ben had a meeting in Las Vegas on Monday morning after Easter, so we left St. George in the afternoon and went to our hotel in Vegas.  After settling in (read: the parents getting pajamas and beds ready while the kids jumped on the beds and dialed random numbers on the phone) we got some dinner, then drove to The Strip.  You see, I've been to Vegas a couple of times but never seen the Bellagio Fountain, so we thought it would make for a good outing with the kids.  We parked in the Bellagio garage and walked through the building to get to the front, where the big fountain is.  The Eiffel Tower was right in front of us so we had to take a picture.  We loved the first fountain song, "Time to Say Goodbye."

Then we walked around to the street to get a different view of the fountain for the next song.  We were hanging out for a while and Ben saw a man pull up and get out of his car, leaning back on the car.  He looked and said, "He looks like Mike Tyson.  He's probably an impersonator."  But after a few people came and took pictures with him, Ben was pretty sure he was the real thing.  The fact that he was driving a Maserati confirmed it.  What impersonator could afford that?  I dared Ben to go take a picture with him and he wasn't moved.  After an emphatic double dare, he did it.

Soon, the next song started.  It was one of my least favorite songs, "Uptown Funk," but the display was still impressive.

And as we walked back through the lobby of the Bellagio I just had to take a picture of these beautiful, huge glass flowers that were mounted on the ceiling.  So cool.

  1. That is crazy that you ran into Mike Tyson...even crazier that Ben was brave enough for a photo op :) The big blown glass sculpture was done by Chihuly! A famous artist that has done amazing blown glass sculptures all over. They did a big art unit at Ashlyn's school a couple of years ago and all the kids got one of his coffee table books! Beautiful pictures! One of the days I was subbing at another local elementary school we watched the PBS special about him and how he does his work. Pretty cool to watch! If nothing else google pics of his other pieces.
