General Conference

Because of my involvement with MoTab this year (read about it here if you're interested), our typical General Conference traditions needed to be adjusted.  Instead of making doughnuts on Sunday morning, we enjoyed them for our dessert the Friday before (April Fool's!) and saved enough for breakfast the next morning.  Instead of making crepes on Saturday morning, we had savory crepes for dinner that evening, and dessert crepes afterward.  (The savory crepes were NOT a hit with the kids, but they promptly forgot about them when we brought out the Nutella and strawberries.)

Cat took over the role of banker for our Conference Bucks during the sessions when I was gone, and Eliza made her own Conference BINGO board to help her pay attention.

When Ben and Cat came to see me sing in the Sunday afternoon session, a kind couple in our ward came over to take care of the younger three (with Luke napping for much of that time).  They brought some coloring pages for the kids.  The husband took Jack and Eliza out on a walk between sessions, the wife painted with Eliza and even made dinner for when Ben, Cat and I got home that evening.  It was so very nice.  And the weekend really was still lovely and spirit-filled, even though there was more going on than usual.  It was a testament to the blessings available when we make an effort to do what's right.  What a gift it is to be able to listen to the prophets and apostles speak to us twice a year!

See how well Eliza was paying attention on Sunday afternoon.
Can you guess what the completely colored-in square was?
