Everyday Stuff, Part 2

A few more glimpses into the random happenings of everyday life 'round these parts.

Tricycle built for two.

Jack demonstrating "trunk twisters," an exercise Cat learned in PE last year.
It's the latest development in core strengthening workouts.

Cleaning Blitz: Utah Edition

Cat has had her face painted more times since we moved to Utah than she has her entire life.
No wonder she likes Utah so much.

We've also seen more rainbows since coming to Utah than we have in a long time.  (Perhaps because you can see so much farther here than you can in the south?)  This is a double rainbow seen from our backyard.  We've seen it again since taking this picture.

Cat has a few pen pals she's been corresponding with since we moved.  Her letters aren't all that informative, but at least she's beginning to get in the habit of writing to her friends.

Cat finally getting to talk to her BFF back in Georgia.

Cat's reading has really come along over the last month.  Here she is reading Amelia Bedelia, one of her favorite book series, to Jack.  Eliza paused to check it out as well.

The title of this collage is "What the kids come home with when Daddy takes them to Michaels."  Actually, Ben didn't take the kids to Michaels.  He took them to Best Buy to look at who knows what, and they happened to see that they were doing a free craft outside of Michaels right next door.  So they walked over there when they were finished at Best Buy and each child made a card (which I never sent out to the intended recipients), and Ben decided that since the employees had spent so much time helping the kids make cards, he should buy a little something.  That turned into 2 foam visors and a handful of clearance stickers.  Cat purchased the $4 bird house on her own, painted it on her own, and had Daddy help her tie it in the tree in the front yard.

Several weeks ago, Cat mandated that I never do her hair.  I countered that that was not acceptable and I should at least be able to do her hair on Sundays, if no other days are allowed.  She agreed to those terms and I now get to do whatever I want in her hair on Sundays, even though she still complains frequently.  I was really proud of this particular 'do, since my French braid skills on anything but the back of my own head are seriously lacking.  This one turned out pretty good, though.  I thought so, anyway...

Why won't she let you do her hair?

  2. Way to be a super Dad Ben! I don't think there is enough begging that my kids could've done in order for Rick to agree to take them to "craft time" at Michaels! :) I LOVED Amelia Bedilia books when I was a kid. Ashlyn checked the babysitting one out at the library the other day and didn't find the humor in the story...thought she was crazy that she didn't know how to take care of a baby cause it's sooo easy. :)
