Garden of the Gods

We were in Colorado for a family baptism and baby blessing over the weekend and decided to make a quick trip down to Colorado Springs to see Garden of the Gods, a free National Natural Landmark.  It's a park with lots of unique rock formations called hogbacks interspersed with vibrant greenery.  It's a popular rock climbing destination, but great for those of us who were keeping our feet on the ground as the central area had wide paved sidewalks that meandered around the formations.  (There were also trails for those who wanted more of a hiking experience.)  It was the perfect little outing on a Sunday morning when we needed to kill time before 1:00 church.

In front of the Kissing Camels formation.  Can you see the reason for the name?

Here's a better view.

We appreciated the warning to look out for rattlesnakes.  (Eek.)

From the car, as we were leaving the park.

Farewell, Garden of the Gods!  I hope we can go back
and do some more exploring next time.
