Our At-Home Photo Shoot

I wanted to have a little photo shoot the week of Eliza's birthday, hoping to get one great photo and not feel like I had to pay for a professional since I have a good camera now.  Suz was visiting that week (yeah!!) so the photo shoot was much easier since there was a second person to help me corral the kids and try to make them smile/laugh/not scowl.  Here are some of my favorites of Eliza:

Of course, Jack kept jumping into the shot.  Eliza wasn't interested in cooperating with me and Suz, but she certainly didn't want Jack to steal her spotlight.  This is Eliza trying to push him away:

Despite Eliza's wishes that Jack not be photographed, I managed to get some good ones of him.  Mostly when Eliza was being particularly uncooperative.

Shhh..... I want to share a little secret.... I think I actually like Jack's pics better than Eliza's.  Don't tell her I said that.

I was trying to come up with props that would enhance the photos instead of detracting from them.  And since I hadn't prepared any props (amateur photographer mistake number 1) I looked around the living room and saw those framed pictures from Jack's and Eliza's last birthdays.  I really like them looking at themselves from about a year ago.  Kind of a cool thing, right?

Also, if you're wondering about the cool shirts the kids are wearing, they were both compliments of my talented sister, Suz, Vinylartist Extraordinaire.  Eliza has a thing for puppy dogs lately, and well, Jack still loves everything with wheels.  So they're perfect!  Suz's etsy shop is here if you're interested.  :-)
