Bowling at the Y

The night before Suz's arrival (or, the night she'd planned to arrive) in Feb., some friends invited us to go bowling with them at the bowling alley in the Wilkinson Center (like FSU's Student Union) at BYU.  We were a bit hesitant because, um, our kids are quite young, and will bowling really hold their attention for very long?  But we thought we would give it a try, and what better time than when you're with friends?

We started off pretty well.  Everyone's happily bowling...

Especially Cat, cause she was doing pretty well.  (The bumpers helped a bit.)

And that lasted for about, oh, 10 minutes.  Then Jack and Eliza decided that this was more fun.

I consider it a sign of our times when Jack and Eliza preferred sitting in a simulated car racing game, watching the promo video (not even racing) over actually rolling a real ball down a real lane for the purpose of knocking over real pins.  We tried and tried to lure them back to the bowling but finally gave up and let Cat have a bunch of extra turns.  She didn't seem to mind.  Curse you, video games at the bowling alley!  But it was still a fun outing.

  1. Oh what a fun time. Go, Cat! You're pretty good at that! And I can see it now, Eliza and Jack juggling for the car keys:)

  2. I'm way older than Jack and Eliza and I can barely hold my own attention through a full game of bowling. Especially when there are lots of people playing....and I have to wait a really long time for my turn..... :) :)
