Girl Time

We have a "no sleepovers most of the time" policy.  We make exceptions for cousins, and for people we've known as long as cousins (the children of Ben's best friend in Florida).  This year we added one more exception: we'll allow occasional sleepovers if there are no young men or not-so-young men in the house.  This last exception allowed for Liza to have two friends over while Ben and Jack were camping with the Young Men in July.

Liza's sleepover turned out to be so fun for all of us!  The highlight was the fashion show.  Cat gave Liza permission for her and her friends to try on her dresses from the dances she's been to.  When she came home from work, they were in the middle of it and having a blast.  She looked at me and said, "Mom, you know what?  I've never tried on your wedding dress."  So we went upstairs and got it out and it was the best thing ever.  Cat and Liza looked so beautiful, and only a few years ahead of their time.

The whole thing reminded me of one of my favorite at-home memories from high school, dancing around the house with my Mom and sisters while Dad was in Atlanta and Andy was on his mission.

Luke was hanging out too, though, and even used the extra face mask during the face mask portion of the evening.

Liza took advantage of the same exception in September, joining her friend for a mini-getaway to Kamas and Park City.  Her friend's mom brought a couple of friends and a friend for each daughter and they stayed at an AirBnb for two nights.  They watched TV and movies, hung out in the hot tub, did some shopping, and rode the lift at a ski resort.  Liza had a blast!
