Jack Lately

I laughed when I realized that Jack was decked out in FSU
items from head to hip when I took him to Costco recently.
Jack definitely had some struggles with middle school and being
hybrid this year, but with the first half of the year over we feel like
he handled it pretty well.  We all learned a few things and hope for
an even better semester when he returns.
I was proud of Jack for being calm and still while a dermatology PA
took care of a pyogenic granuloma that suddenly popped up on his clavicle.
Sometimes Jack will sit down with this book and just start singing.
Jack was angry about something and took it out on the wall -
then he and Ben repaired and painted the whole wall.

I brought Jack hiking with me one Friday morning (which is always a catch-up day at school).
He had a pretty good attitude, until he decided his hands were too cold, even in his gloves.
I insisted he continue, hoping the coolness of seeing Battle Creek Falls mostly frozen at the end
of the short hike would be rewarding enough for him to get over his hands being cold.
We were at the waterfall soon and sure enough, he loved climbing around and exploring
and didn't mention his cold fingers again, even after we got back to the van.

We decided to make it a regular thing, so the next Friday we drove to a different spot, up at
South Fork in Provo Canyon, and just walked around and explored a little bit.  It's neat
to see the evidence of winter in the mountains and in water.  We loved seeing ice on the stream.
