Labor Day & More

Have I mentioned that the boys switched to the room formerly inhabited by Eliza?
This is the best picture I have of the room in its new arrangement.
Sunday morning we took a goodbye pic with Suz's family, in front
of their newly renovated camper.  Oh, and Bandit wanted to be in the picture.

During our CFM lesson about Samuel the Lamanite, we looked
at old Church magazines and chose a message to share on our loft
as Samuel.  I just thought Luke was super cute.
And this is the Samuel the Lamanite he colored from the Primary lesson manual.
Yes, Samuel is blue.  Maybe because he had to yell from the wall, struggling
to be heard over the rowdy wicked Nephites?

We had a fun cousin lunch on Labor Day.  Of course, this was the only time
I took a picture, but for the bulk of the visit the kids were running around playing,
having a ball.  We also taught everyone how to play The Couch Game.

After our cousin lunch, we took the kids kayaking on the Provo River.  It was the first time for the kids, and they all did great maneuvering those Class I rapids!  Jack did have a brief period where he was floating on his upside down kayak, but Ben helped him get it sorted out pretty quickly.  It was a really fun adventure.  (Oh, and we saw 10 cows taking a drink from the river, so that was fun.  I'd seen beavers and/or otters every time I'd been on the river this summer - thrice prior to this - but never cows.)

Curly-Haired Eliza on the way to school.
I asked Cat to tutor Jack in Latin, and after their first session she played him
a couple of YouTube videos of Disney songs being sung in Latin.  Good times.

Evidence that Jack does climb our fence.
I like Luke's creative use of a camp chair at Cat's soccer game.

And he discovered that he could make shadow puppets using the small
lamp I clamped onto the shelf by his bed.
Cat blew out one of her cleats at practice and had to duct tape it together.

They've been well-loved.  She was really hoping to get through more than
one season with this pair, but alas, we didn't quite make it.

Ben was out of town for a few days and I took the kids up Squaw Peak for a little hike on Saturday, just to get outside.  We literally just pulled over in a pull-out spot on the road and started walking up a random trail, then turned around after about 25 minutes.  The fall colors were a pleasant surprise, and the perfect view of the sunset was icing on the cake.
