Megan's Visit, Days 5-6

Friday's adventures included a girls' outing to Ulta, where Eliza got a little makeover (Cat kindly took care of the boys for us); lunch with Oma at Chick-fil-A; and an adults-only group date watching stand-up comedians at Dry Bar Comedy in Provo.

On Saturday, the first order of business was to drive to four different doughnut shops so we could determine once and for all where to get the best glazed doughnut.  Megan acted as moderator, methodically cutting and serving the doughnuts, and Suz came up with a rubric to rate each doughnut.  First place went to my personal favorite, Lehi Bakery, and Krispy Kreme coming in a close second.  Provo Bakery and Cowboy doughnuts lagged behind.

As we were finishing up our doughnut adventure, Grunt the Gorilla surprised us with a visit and some treats for Megan.  The kids had so much fun with him, reading to him about gorillas and other animals and learning how to crawl around on their fists and knees.  It took Luke a while to warm up to the gorilla, but they were buddies by the time Grunt left.  We sent some extra doughnuts with Grunt, because I'm pretty sure gorillas like them too.

It's such a novelty for my kids to get to use a tablet, so they loved it when Megan gave them iPad time.  Cat also enjoyed doing Megan's hair a few times.

That afternoon we drove up to Lehi so Megan could see Ben's office.  The kids love two things about the office: raiding the break room (which is well stocked with snacks and sodas) and writing on Ben's white board wall.  Work is fun!  After that, the guys took the boys to Scheels and all the women folk shopped around at the Outlet Mall for a little while before meeting up at home for a pizza dinner.  And Suz and I finally got around to modeling the cute SC shirts Megan brought us.

Megan had a late flight that night, which was delayed multiple times so that it became really late, and Suz kindly drove her to the airport so that I could go to bed and be able to get up for choir the next morning.

We loved having Megan here to visit, explore, and just have fun.  Thank you for making the trip!  And thank you to Grammy and everyone who held down the fort at home so we could hang out with you!
