Saturday, we had an adventure at Scheels, with the kids trying out the assortment of wooden swords and shields and everyone going for a ride on the Ferris Wheel. Then we had lunch at Costco before heading home for the actual Fiesta. Eliza was the third to try her hand at the pinata and busted it open easily. We also watched Coco, ate fajitas, opened gifts, and ate cake.
On Sunday, Luke got birthday cake TWO more times, the Primary sang to him, and he received a birthday treat from the Bishop.
On Monday - the big day - Luke received another fun present in the mail, wore the new birthday t-shirt he received from a friend, had some play time with his favorite local cousin, received the royal treatment from his siblings, and I made cake pops from the cake scraps.
On Tuesday, Luke celebrated at preschool by sharing a special poster with the class and giving out Oreos and Dum-Dums.
I think it was just the right amount of celebrating for my favorite little guy. Luke is smart and curious with a great sense of humor and lots of creativity. He loves to play and have fun with friends and siblings, but does not appreciate being treated like an inferior by older kids... or even told what to do by a parent. I expect his independence and determination will serve him well as he gets older.
Amen.
