A Post About Jack

When Jack is into a book, he literally doesn't want to put it down.  Or close it, for that matter.  He even makes use of elevator rides and sees it as an opportunity to take a load off.  Here, Jack is reding one of the last Harry Potter books, since I only recently let him finish the series.  He's read the first few books several times, and after taking a mandatory break from HP (by reading The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe, which he ended up loving and reading a few times as well) I finally let him continue through Deathly Hallows.  And he immediately started working on Cursed Child.

Last week Jack carelessly hung from a small branch on the tree in our front yard.  The branch broke away from the tree almost completely, so I had him cut the branch the rest of the way from the tree, then cut the branch into small enough pieces to fit into our trash can, then load it in the trash can.  The whole time he was going through this he was worried about what his punishment would be.  (Should I have told him that the clean-up was his punishment?)  We had the following conversation, which I'm still mulling over.

Jack: (very worried) Am I going to be grounded?
Me: (exasperated) I just don't know how to help you make good choices.
Jack: But I will one day.

Jack has decided in the last couple of weeks that he'd like his hair to swoosh to
the side.  He frequently styles it with his fingers (the above picture was taken
shortly after bath time) but he still doesn't want anyone to put styling
products in his hair.  I appreciate the progress anyway.

This is a fun series of songs and raps Jack's teacher taught the class to help them remember
various English rules.  I apologize that the sound isn't good, but hopefully anyone
watching will be able understand at least a few of the lyrics.
