Hair We Go Again

I blogged about Cat beginning to do her own hair when she was in 1st grade (HERE), and now that Eliza is in 1st grade, she's doing the exact same thing.  Where Cat seemed to be focused on accessories, though, Eliza ambitiously does her own braids, buns, ponytails, pigtails, and more, PLUS accessories.

"Are you going to send this picture to someone?"
"I'm going to put it on the blog."
"Make sure you tell them I did it myself."
"Don't worry.  I will."

Since I started singing with MoTab and haven't been home to help the kids get ready for church, I have gently encouraged Cat to help Eliza with her hair, even though she had done a lot of that already.  But one Sunday I showed up at church (I'm always late, due to our Sunday schedule) and Eliza had about six clips of different colors in her hair.  After that, I mandated that Cat help Eliza with her hair every Sunday morning.  Eliza hates this.  But look at Eliza's hair last Sunday:

And I took the picture after we'd been home from church for a couple of hours.  I doted on Eliza and Cat, who had also curled her own hair and done a great job, but Ben told me that the process involved more than a few tears and unhappy words.  I let Eliza be in charge of her hair 6 days a week (only really getting miffed one day recently when she spent so much time on her hair that she barely got her other morning tasks done in time to go to school...) but I'm hoping that she'll be okay with Cat taking over this one morning each week.  After all, Cat's come a long way in her hair-styling abilities.
