Thanksgiving Trip: Atlanta

We started our Thanksgiving trip in Atlanta where Megan and 4 of her kids met us! That morning we discovered there was a mix-up with the date, but Megan was still able to get everything together and meet us in Atlanta, arriving shortly us.

The first stop was Waffle House, always a favorite when we're in the South. I'd expected we would just hang out at the AirBnb together since we didn't have a lot of time, but we decided to go to the Georgia Aquarium instead. Luckily, it was open late so we had enough time to explore for a couple of hours. It did not disappoint!

I hope I never meet a real Megalodon.

Sea horses look funny.

I think this was my first time seeing live sand dollars.

I never get tired of otters.

The penguins were a highlight!

How many American Alligators do you see?
Don't let the reflection on the left fool you.

The central hall was all lit up and decorated for Christmas
and it was so pretty! We heard they'd just put it up that day.

We stayed at the big tank with the Whale Shark for a while,
just watching all of these amazing animals. It was awesome.

The World of Coca-Cola is just across a little lawn from the Aquarium and
there were some fun Coke-themed lights outside so we stopped for a picture.
Luke makes picture-taking exciting.

Cat carried Luke all the way back to the car.

This was especially impressive since we walked up 5 flights of stairs to the
roof of the garage. We thought we'd started on the 3rd level, but it took a couple
of flights to get to the 3rd. Drew was not amused.

After a lengthy discussion, we decided to go to The Varsity for hot dogs
and hamburgers. It's an iconic Atlanta diner I've been wanting to take the kids
to for a while and it was cool to be there and check it out, especially since
it looks like they'll be closing that location, which has been there for generations.

The boys loved having their own room WITH A TV so they could stay
up way too late watching movies.

Dad and Kelly came over Sunday  morning! We loved it!
And to make the visit even better, they brought donuts, bagels, and juice.

These guys played some "Cover Your Assets" while the adults talked.

Then Kelly brought out some surprises -
including a huge pack of Lip Smackers. She had
everyone take turns choosing flavors.

It was wonderful to see so much of my family and I really appreciated them driving to meet us. Hopefully we can have more time together next time!
