Family Ruenion! Part 2

Monday was a great day!  We arrived at Deer Creek Reservoir early enough to claim a good spot to hang out.  We brought plenty of food for lunch and snacks, and ended up staying for over 5 hours.  We took turns tubing and kneeboarding from the boat, kayaking and paddleboarding, and a few people even rented Wave Runners for a couple of hours!  All of the teenagers and kids who wanted to learn how to drive the Wave Runners got a turn behind the handlebars, which was really fun.

The only downside was that we weren't as good at reapplying sunscreen as we should have been, and most of us ended up with at least a little bit of sunburn.  Oops.

Party Van loaded and ready to go to the lake!

I think that in this picture Jack is showing Weston the vlog-type video
he'd just made of the setup at the lake.

In the evening we hosted a hoedown for our extended family.  Guests included Reed & Jen, Jeanne, Carson & Ellie, Steph & Family, and Stacie & Family.  Everyone lives in Utah except my cousin Stacie who happened to be in town from Ohio, so it was extra special to see her!

I hired a square dance caller and it was really fun to go through a few dances with everyone!  The most traditional square dance we did was called "Oh Johnny Oh Johnny Oh."  We also did the Virginia Reel and the Pat-a-Cake Polka.  Then we learned the Cotton Eye Joe, and did the Chicken Dance and the Hokey Pokey as a big group.  It was so much fun, and even the naysayers who thought it would be a boring night had a really good time.  Hooray!  Or more accurately, Yeehaw!

Andy reluctantly helped Ben get the big grill ready, using the blow torch.

Ellie made these super cute cowboy hat cupcakes.

I think they got a bit tangled.

And after a full day of fun, the Photo Scavenger Hunt teams mustered enough energy to make plans for the next day's competition.
