Family Reunion! Part 5

On Thursday we took a day trip to St. George so that we could all see Grammy's headstone, which had been laid in June.  Visiting the cemetery was a very somber experience for all of us, forcefully reminding us of the incredible loss it has been to not have Grammy with us, particularly during this week, which she'd helped plan and was really looking forward to.

Pit stop at a truck stop in Beaver, UT.
It was nice to see Opa's headstone too, which was nearby.

After some time at the cemetery, a few adults took the younger kids to the adjacent
playground/splash pad while the rest of us visited the neighborhood where Suz will be
living next year.  This is a model home we walked through together.

Did you know that it's hot in St. George in summer?  Thank goodness there was a splash pad at this playground.  None of us minded the kids just playing in the water in their clothes.  A cold treat was in order after all of the dry heat.  Also, Reed hung out with us at the cemetery, playground, and Nielsen's!

Megan's Family's first time at Nielsen's
Would you believe that both boys ended up with prickles in their
fingers after hanging out in this cactus patch in front of Nielsen's?
Also, why is there a cactus patch in front of Nielsen's?

Good times in the party van on the way back to Lindon.
These boys were SO EXCITED to watch Star Wars on the DVD player in our van.

We all stopped for dinner at the Beaver Creamery Cafe.

Our visit in St. George was much longer than I expected and we got back pretty late that night, but we were all so glad that we went.

Friday was Pioneer Day, so we mostly stayed home, away from the crowds.  The menfolk made another big, yummy breakfast and Dylan and Courteney were excited to go back to our house to see the chickens.  We tried out the giant Twister mat we made, then a big group of us ventured out to Bridal Veil Falls.

Back at the house, we had hot dogs for lunch and shave ice for dessert, thanks to Andy and Amy.  The boys played the arcade game in the basement, Dylan and Courteney worked hard on their sand castle, and the cousins had some water fun in the back yard.
