Jack's Good Things

Jack's turn now!  Jack has been doing better at home and at school lately.  Here are a few examples.

When I emailed Jack's math teacher the other day, to find out how his behavior has been, this was his response:  Other than the occasional blurting out, which is not just him, he is doing great.  He has been participating, even getting excited about it lately.  He is very respectable, and even when he does blurt out, he recognizes it and changes it - even apologizing.  He is awesome, and you can even tell him I said that.

I received the following email from Jack's homeroom teacher a week ago:  Jack has been chosen as this week's Noble Knight winner!  He has been so honest with his clip on the behavior chart lately.  Also, I just wanted to tell you how amazingly well he did on his SAGE test this week.  Just on his Reading/Writing test, he beat his beginning of the year score by 132 points!  Most kids beat their score by 1-30 points.  132!!! That is amazing progress.  We would love to have you join us as he is honored tomorrow morning in the gym.

(He doesn't look very excited, but he was.)

At home, he seemed to have a breakthrough day recently.  I told him he needed to clean up the family room before he could watch any TV, and he not only started cleaning up, he was singing a song about it, and didn't get upset that Luke wasn't being helpful.  Then when I remembered that he needed to empty the dishwasher also, I apologized but said that should happen before he had any screen time as well.  He didn't complain and he even told Luke NOT to start the show, saying, "It will distract me!"  Of course, he doesn't have this kind of exceptional attitude all the time, but I say that progress is progress.

When we asked Jack to help vacuum the messy Primary Room we'd
occupied during Stake Conference, he did it with gusto!

And here are a few more things just for fun...

Jack has rekindled his love of Harry Potter and when he wanted extra reading time this week, he was adamant that I wake him up at 6:00 so that he could read for an hour before school.  (I usually wake Jack and Eliza up around 6:15-6:25 and one of them does 30 minutes of reading while the other practices piano with me for 30 minutes, then we swap the following day.)  I got him up early, then sat on the couch and read scriptures while he read his HP book beside me.  I loved that he would pick up his wand and do a spell along with the characters in the story every couple of minutes.  So sweet.

Here he is at last week's Blue and Gold Banquet.
Jack is still loving Cub Scouts.

Jack was really excited when he saw this "police" car near us at a stop light
and wanted me to take a picture.

After school the other day, all the talk was about who had a Valentine and whether so-and-so would ask so-and-so to be his/her Valentine.  Apparently, Jack had asked a girl he's had a crush on for a while to be his Valentine and she'd said no.

Jack: I'm going to ask someone else to be my Valentine.
Me: What does it mean to have a Valentine?
Jack: I don't know but I haven't had a Valentine in five years in a row!
