Eliza's Squishies

Last weekend Eliza came home from a friend's house with a tiny rice-filled balloon.  She loved it, and immediately wanted to make her own.  Soon she'd perfected a technique for turning balloons into stress balls (which I call Squishies and continue to quote Dory as I do so.  See video below).

She made a few for herself, brought them to school, and all of her friends started asking for them.  Soon she was even getting notes and requests for certain colors.  Tuesday night I helped her make 10 to bring to classmates, and she insists that she needs more.

Here she demonstrates her process, but I'll give you a quick explanation as well.  First, stretch the inside balloon over a large funnel (she used a piece from our marble run set) and put as much rice in as you can.  We used about 1/4 cup for a 12" balloon.  Tie the balloon off, getting the air out of the balloon as much as possible.  Cut off the tail of the tied balloon.  Choose an exterior balloon of the same size, cut the long end off, and stretch it over the tied end of the interior balloon.  Voilà.
