Family Camping Trip 2017, part 1

Back by popular demand!  When we asked the kids if they wanted to return to Palisade State Park in Sterling, UT or go camping at a new place this year, they really wanted to go back to Palisade.  So that's what we did last month.  We drove the 90 minutes or so to the park in the evening, after spending hours packing that afternoon.  We arrived in time to have a quick hot dog dinner on the grill, then explore the park for a bit.  I think my favorite part was sitting on the dock with Ben and the kids, looking for fish jumping out of the water, and bats flying around overhead.  I'd never seen a bat before, so I thought it was super cool.

We enjoyed a laid-back morning the next day, with the kids reading, playing games, and catching tiny frogs; and Ben improvising our breakfast by cooking on a grill instead of over a fire as we'd planned, since there was a burn ban in effect.  Then it was off to the lake for canoeing, paddle boating, and sailing using a sail boat our neighbor let us borrow.  There was also some wildlife photographing, floating, and swimming (during which activity some people had more fun than others).
