General Conference

We had a great Conference weekend!  The Tabernacle Choir performed at one session on Saturday and one on Sunday, as was the tradition for many years before Covid.  While it was easing its way back to normal, the Choir was divided into two groups to allow for distancing while singing: a Saturday choir and a Sunday choir.  I was in the Sunday choir, which meant I was home with my family all day on Saturday.  We made our breakfast (dessert) crepes that morning and Eliza helped me run the Conference store with little toys and prizes, and lots of candy as we watched the day's 3 general sessions.

Luke wanted this Mardi Gras mask to be a Conference prize and
he wore it for several hours after buying it from the store.

Eliza took notes feverishly almost continuously, Luke hung out in the family room with us did a good job of listening and being quiet, Jack came and went during the three Saturday sessions, and Cat had to work in the middle of the day so she listened as much as she could when she was home.

I had to be on Temple Square extra early Sunday morning to have time for my rapid Covid test before being allowed to dress and enter the loft for rehearsal, but it was worth it!  It was awesome to perform with the Choir again after a 19-month break, and to sing live in Conference for the first time in 2 years.  There was such a special feeling of relief, gratitude, and excitement among the Choir and others involved in Conference.  With just half of the choir there it definitely didn't feel normal, but it was a wonderful step in that direction and I am so thankful to have been able to participate.

You can barely make out the Choir logo on the KN95 mask,
and the dot on my name tag is my proof of a negative Covid test.

Ben and the kids had a good day at home, with each of the kids listening about as much as they did the day before.  Between sessions, Cat and Eliza drove to a small canyon nearby and picked wildflowers.

Yesterday I made a Kahoot! game for us to play last night.  (I probably spent 2 hours creating the game and it took us about 15 minutes to play, haha.)  I haven't made one in a few years but after Cat bragged about how well she did on Conference Jeopardy in Seminary the day after Conference weekend I decided to see how she'd do against the rest of the family.  Well, she won!  But everyone did a really good job - I was pleased!  Here's the link to the game if you want to check it out.

I loved so many of the talks during Conference weekend, but the two that I have thought about the most in the week since Conference are President Ballard's "Lovest Thou Me More Than These?"  and Elder Dunn's "One Percent Better."  I enjoyed reviewing the talks as I worked on the game yesterday and look forward to reading and studying them more.
