A Few Days with Cousins

When we told my brother Andy that Ben's company would be sending the two of us to Maui for President's Club for a few days, a plan began to emerge to get both of our families to Hawaii as well.  Eventually we figured out that our kids to stay at Andy's house while Ben and I were in Maui, then Andy and Amy would fly out with our kids and we would meet up in Oahu.

We told Cat several weeks in advance but kept it from the other kids until just a few days before the trip.  After watching "Finding Ohana," which takes place on Oahu, I asked them if they'd like to go to Oahu:

The kids had a great time at Andy and Amy's house while we were in Maui!  They spent four days playing, watching movies, painting (the girls), shopping and doing other Hawaii-prep, and (lots and lots of) swimming!

Meanwhile, Ben and I had three full days at a resort in Maui!  We snorkeled, hung out by the pool, attended an awesome luau (see the video of one of the acts below), ate yummy food, and did some shopping.  Ben went on a scuba dive while I got a massage and read a book on the beach.  But one of the big highlights was definitely spending a day driving the Road to Hana.

Wai'anapanapa State Park was absolutely amazing with its black sand beach,
huge volcanic rock cliffs, bright green vegetation, and gorgeous blue water.

Black sand beach!

We saw several waterfalls on the drive but Wailua Iki was my favorite.

Banana bread and a pineapple smoothie at the Halfway to Hana roadside stand.
