When you're a Jet, you're a Jet all the way...

At the end of the school year we found out that Eliza was invited to join Jets, one of the competitive teams at her gym.  She was THRILLED about it.  They began training twice (totaling 2.5 hours) each week at the beginning of the summer and Eliza has loved it.  She's having lots of fun and she's making good friends.  She really likes the coaches and feels like they do a better job of teaching and pushing her than her former coaches.  She appreciates that she's being challenged, but at her own pace (she's ahead of some of the other girls on bars so she gets to work on more difficult skills when they're working on bars, but she's not as good on the beam).

Here are a few skills Eliza has learned since starting Jets in June:
jump to high bar (using the high bar!)
kip (bar)
two consecutive back hip circles (bar)
almost independent on back handspring (floor)
twist dismount (beam)
front handspring over the table (vault)

Eliza's favorite event is bars, though sometimes her hands pay the price (and along with them, piano practice, haha).
