Since we did our big things on Independence Day Eve - the Balloon Fest and Colonial Fest - we had a pretty low-key Fourth. Cat decided that she didn't have an appropriately festive shirt, so she made one by cutting out a stencil in a cereal box and spray painting a solid white t-shirt. I made French toast for breakfast and Eliza and Luke kindly helped me with fresh whipped cream. We watched a movie as a family and Ben took the kids out to ride bikes and get some groceries (two separate activities) which left time for Grammy and I to watch our own movie. Ben made yummy hamburgers for dinner, accompanied by Grammy's yummy potato salad. Friends joined us for dinner and afterward we killed time until sunset by watching "A Capitol Fourth." Once it was sufficiently dark, we put on our own little fireworks show in the street in front of our house, and enjoyed the fireworks our neighbors provided as well. We ended the evening by toasting with our layered Patriotic drinks. Happy Birthday, America!
