Our first two adventures were in Payson. First, we picked blackberries at a little farm. The kids had a lot of fun with this, even though it was pretty slim pickins'. As much as we tried to discourage Luke from eating berries before they were paid for, he did it anyway. So we made up for it by rounding up our weight before paying at the end...
Caught purple-handed!
We enjoyed eating berries in the car, but a few made it home to the fridge. After berry picking, we had lunch at The Little Acorn, a dive in Spanish Fork that a friend recommended. Ben and I shared a yummy cheesesteak sandwich on homemade bread, and the kids liked their food too, so I'd say it was a hit.
The next adventure, and what brought us to Payson in the first place, was a Monster Truck ride. The ride was supposed to be open at 10am, but wasn't ready until after lunch. We were finally able to make it happen, though, and I'm so glad we did. A month later, Luke still talks about this experience. He'll say, "Mon-ther chuck BUMPEEEEEE." A few times he's woken up from his nap saying that, so I'm pretty sure he's dreamed about it too. And I'm told it was really bumpy. The driver warned Ben that he should cradle Luke's head during the ride, and he was glad that he did.
It was interesting trying to get these pictures before it was our family's turn for the ride. Notice that the boys, especially Luke, weren't interested in anything besides the truck.
Ben and I found it funny that during their ride, the truck was blaring the song "Sweet Home Alabama," not just because it's such a Southern country song, but because the lyrics are "big wheels keep on turnin'"..... So, yes, it was all very fitting.
You guys find the most funnest things to do.
