A year or so ago I pinned this blog post about using squirt bottles for condiments to make designs by squirting colored water on snow. I've been wanting to try it, but just haven't wanted to go out and buy squirt bottles. So I finally decided I should pour the liquids out of some of our spray bottles and do the same thing with spray bottles. I did it with Jack and Eliza one morning while Cat was at school, and they thought it was really cool. I thought it was a lot of work, and after so much repeated trigger action, they didn't work as well as I would have liked. You also had to hold the bottles really close to the snow to get the colors to show up well. BUT it was a good way to get us out of the house and do something fun together for a little while.
Jack frequently asks me to make a snowman. I've tried in vain several times. The snow is
just too powdery here! Great for skiing, but not so great for snowman-making. I've heard it's
easier if you time the construction of a snowman with when the snow starts to melt, but I
guess I haven't been that fortunate.
Anyway, on this day, Jack asked me once again to make him a snowman. I tried once
again to compact a ball of snow, but it just crumbled apart. So I told the kids we would
make a sleeping snowman. Jack insisted that he have arms, Eliza insisted that he have hair,
and they agreed that he probably wanted a pile of tomatoes to eat. So... here we have a
spiky-haired tomato-eating sleepy snoman.
I love, love, love it!!!!! Greatest snowman I've ever seen!
ReplyDeleteAwww what a great snowman! Though I have to admit I mistook the tomatoes for a flesh wound...
