Cool Winter Hike (Get it? Cool?)

It took quite a bit of convincing, but we finally managed to get the kids to do a winter hike with us the second weekend in January.  We followed a snowy trail, while it continued to snow, to Battle Creek Falls (this is what it looked like when we did the hike over the summer) and it was SO pretty and SO cool and SO fun.  They ended up having a really good time and I'm so glad we endured the complaining and eye rolling and forced them to go anyway because we all enjoyed it and we'll be sure to do it again this winter.

The hike is all uphill to the waterfall, gradual at first and then more steep toward the end.  When we were coming back, the kids decided to slide downhill on their backs (you can see a bit of that in the video).  And we saw people carrying sleds so they could do some sledding on the declines also, which sounds fun, but a little scary since the trail is right beside a drop-off with a stream....

Other things you'll see in the pictures:
- Eliza taking a break from the (quite short) hike by laying down in the snow.
- Jack and Eliza climing up the snow-walls beside the waterfall to grab icicles (and lick them)
- Luke snuggling with his Ice Baby.  He was mad that we wouldn't let him take his Ice Baby in the car with us on the way home.
