October/November Miscellany

They told us Luke has to wear a belt to school.
They never said he has to use belt loops.

For some reason, Luke and Gideon loved to set up our little figures on the small
landing that leads to my bedroom door.  It didn't bother me too much and I would
usually just step over the arrangement (hooray for long legs) a few times before
asking to put them away.

There's something different about you today but I can't quite put my finger on it.
Did you get a haircut?

The cousisns loved playing with our LEGOS!
The LEGOS saw more action during those 5 weeks than they've had in a while!

Eliza never got the closure she needed when leaving her old elementary school.
So one day I took Eliza and Jack out of school in the middle of the day and we visited
their old school during lunch and recess so they could catch their old friends.  I was afraid it would
make them even more sad that they'd left, but I don't think it did.  There was a bit of sadness,
but I think it was also just good for them to visit one more time and to see friends for a bit.

Like old times.

We had a couple of big cousin dinners while cousins were still staying with us.
This particular dinner included Dayna, who took a quick weekend trip from college
in Virginia to see mission friends in Utah.  We were lucky to get her for a few hours!

Is there any better reason than this picture to have a dress-up collection?

Crazy Hair Day during Red Ribbon Week.
I didn't get pics in the morning, but here are Luke and Eliza before bedtime.

Cousins seemed to enjoy Jack's little comic books as much as he did.

Obiwan Kenobi likes it when his big brother reads to him.

These are the GF cookies I made sure to prepare in advance so that cousins
would be able to have at least one dessert at the Trunk-or-Treat chili dinner
when I was at choir that night.  Luke and Zerin took turns helping with the decorating.
Through a series of unfortunate events, they didn't get to eat the cookies after all.

Oh, how Eliza loves babies.  She spent as much time with Malachi as she could.

One Friday night, Keturah, Cat and I met up with Lindsey and saw Maleficent 2.
Ben and Michael took the younger kids to Nickel City.  It was an inspired arrangement.

We can never again have breakfast burritos for breakfast without watching, singing,
and dancing along to Yum Yum Breakfast Burritos.
WARNING: Seriously annoying earworm song will play if you click on that link.

The weekend before we left for Disneyland, the kids and I worked on Disney shirts.
Jack's Pizza Planet alien was the most involved, but it turned out so great and he loved
that he made it himself (you know, with a lot of support from, you know, someone else).

This became a cool relief Sleeping Beauty's Castle shirt.

Luke's vision for his Mickey Mouse shirt included his name, fireworks
and a traditional Mickey face.  We finally talked him out of the face
because we couldn't make it look good, but he got everything else he wanted.
